When they say "it's in your blood," sometimes it really is. As Jack Curry of YES Network reported during Sunday's telecast of the Yankees spring training home opener at Steinbrenner Field, the son of left-hander Andy Pettitte enjoyed some baseball fortune of his own.

Considered one of the best high school pitchers in the country, punctuated with a signed letter of intent to pitch for Baylor University next year, right-hander Josh Pettitte threw a no-hitter on Friday night in Texas high school play.

As per Lou DiPietro of YESNetwork.com, the senior at Deer Park High School accomplished the impressive feat against a perennially dominant Boerne Champion High School team, as he struck out 10 batters and issued one walk, which left the young Pettitte just a touch short of a perfect game. Coming off of an impressive 2012 where the Deer Park right-hander went 4-0 with an 0.89 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 23 innings pitched, Deer Park coach Chris Rupp raves of Pettitte's capability,

“Josh knows how to pitch. He has a great presence on the mound and command of three pitches," Deer Park coach Chris Rupp said of Pettitte upon his Baylor signing. "He is a good student with a good work ethic and will only continue to get better. Josh is very coachable and will be a good college pitcher.”

While the youngster, as aforementioned, will be heading to Baylor in the fall, it is also anticipated he might be selected in this summer's Major League Baseball Draft.

In addition to his excitement over the impressive feat, some of his father's teammates also expressed their excitement over the no-hitter. Yankees starting pitchers C.C. Sabathia and Phil Hughes, as well as reliever Joba Chamberlain, all took to Twitter to congratulate the young Pettitte.
