YANKEES 101

Former catcher Jorge Posada, who retired following the 2011 season, is expected to reunite with the New York Yankees in spring training as a guest instructor. 

"They haven't asked me yet, but they said they are going to," Posada told the Associated Press. "I'll be around." 

With the New York Yankees still lacking offensive power at catcher and designated hitter as spring training quickly approaches, Posada was asked about the possibility of a comeback, much like his teammate Andy Pettitte made last spring. However, Posada has no plans of heading down that path. 

"No comeback for me," said Posada. "I'm good with what I'm doing, and I was happy with the decision I made last year around this time. I'm enjoying the family." 

Posada, now 41 years old, hit .235 with 14 home runs and 44 RBI in the final season of his 17 year career in pinstripes. Though his production in 2011 did not live up to his career stats, he ended the season with a .429 batting average in 14 postseason at-bats. 

Despite Posada's love for baseball and desire to be around the game, the retired All-Star doesn't see himself becoming a full-time coach at this point, as he continues to enjoy his time with his family. 

"Not right now," replied Posada, when asked about finding a permanent coaching position. "Maybe later. I like coaching, I like helping out, but I don't see myself doing it right now."
