As reported by Anthony McCarron and Christian Red of the New York Daily News Youkilis' agent Joe Bick said Sunday his client is giving serious consideration to the New York Yankees. Last week sources said the Yankees offered a one-year $12 million deal to the ex-Red Sox.
Bick hasn't acknowledged what other teams are in play though the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners have shown some interest and could be in the mix. Kevin's familiarity with the AL East and his friendship with Yankees' Captain Derek Jeter could make his final landing place in the Bronx.
"Kevin's in the process of considering options and we'll obviously make a decision at some point not to far in the future," Bick told the New York Daily News. The agent also said any issues in the past between Kevin and Joba Chamberlain wouldn't factor into the decision.
The two have had a few incidents over the years with Chamberlain hitting Youkilis a number of times while with the Boston Red Sox.
No doubt Youkilis would be the much needed right handed bat necessary in this line up and his versatility in playing third and first base will be a welcome addition to the roster.
Yankees' fans in the past have embraced old Boston players like Roger Clemens and Johnny Damon because what the fans care most about is production. If Kevin delivers the Bleacher Creatures will be more than happy to add him to the roll call.
